The Qatar Sussex Stakes is set to be one of the races of the week at Goodwood after seven top milers were declared for the Group 1 mile contest on Wednesday.

Bookmakers make the unbeaten Siskin, winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas last time, favourite in a mouthwatering clash Kameko, who triumphed in the Newmarket equivalent.

Kameko set a course record in his Guineas win and is back down to a mile after his Derby fourth. Wichita was a neck second behind Andrew Balding's stable star at Newmarket, and reopposes on the Sussex Downs.

Wichita is one of three in the race for Aidan O'Brien, who is also represented by Queen Anne winner Circus Maximus and Irish Guineas runner-up Vatican City.

Last month's dazzling Summer Mile winner Mohaather was also declared while San Donato completes the super septet.

The other Group race on Wednesday's card is the Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (2.45), which will feature ten runners.

Colin Keane, travelling from Ireland to ride Siskin and going into quarantine on return, has picked up the ride on Steel Bull, an impressive winner on debut for Michael O'Callaghan.

Other key runners in the Group 3 sprint include Sardinia Sunset, Chief Little Hawk and Army Of India.
