David O'Meara has identified the Qipco Queen Elizabeth II Stakes as the long-term target for Lord Glitters after the consistent grey was just denied in the Summer Mile at Ascot on Saturday.

Lord Glitters, who lost out by a neck to Beat The Bank, already has a British Champions Day victory to his name following his late swoop in last year's Balmoral Handicap.

The Geoff and Sandra Turnbull-owned four-year-old has shown a liking for Ascot as he has finished runner-up on his other three starts at the Berkshire track since joining O'Meara from France, including in the Group 1 Queen Anne at the royal meeting last month.

"He ran well on Saturday as he probably just wants a bit of cut in the ground and the big target for him would be the QEII back there in October," said O'Meara.

The trainer was also responsible for the third in the Summer Mile as Suedois threatened to strike before being headed in the last 100 yards.

Suedois, winner of the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland last October, might drop back to seven furlongs for his next start at Glorious Goodwood, where he could be joined by Lord Glitters.

"Suedois also ran a good race at Ascot and Danny [Tudhope] thought he might just have kicked a bit too soon," added O'Meara.

"He'll probably go for the Lennox Stakes next and we might look to run Lord Glitters in a race at Goodwood as well."
