Trainer

Mark Johnston has declared 12 runners across five British tracks as he homes in on Richard Hannon snr's record for the number of winners trained in Britain.

When Johnston reaches 176 for the season, he will rewrite the history books with his total of 4,194 a new benchmark.

Forever mixing quality with quantity, the trainer sends out key runners in the two domestic Group races, with Communique in the Rose of Lancaster at Haydock and Main Edition in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket, before Nyaleti appears in the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park in the evening.

Jockey

Ascot pulled off a coup enticing Joao Moreira to take part in the Shergar Cup, where he forms part of the Rest of the World team with Yutaka Take and Corey Brown.

Moreira rode a winner at the meeting in 2013 but has since become a firm favourite in Hong Kong, earning the nickname 'Magic Man' and developing into one of the best jockeys in the world.

He has five rides on the card with one of his strongest chances coming on Koeman (2.15), who produced a career-best performance when winning over course and distance on King George day.

Horse

Albany Stakes winner Main Edition suffered her first defeat in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes but returns to Newmarket's July course in the german-thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes (3.45).

She was badly hampered in a rough race there but was flat out at the time and will need to bounce back to her best.

Main Edition has to give away 3lb to her six rivals but connections are confident stepping up to 7f for the first time will be a help rather than a hindrance.

Race

Five days on from Carlisle's all-female jockeys' meeting, Haydock stages the ITV4-televised Smarkets Ladies' Trophy Handicap (1.55).

Although a clash with the Shergar Cup, where Josephine Gordon, Hayley Turner and Hollie Doyle make up the Girls Team, is not ideal a competitive field of 11 has been declared.

The 1m4f contest for professional and amateur riders could turn into a family affair with father-and-daughter partnerships of Paul and Megan Nicholls and Tim and Emily Easterby joining forces on Birds Of Prey and Appointed respectively.
