One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

ONE TRAINER
Mark Johnston

It's going to be a busy weekend for those at the Mark Johnston yard, with the trainer sending out 18 runners across five meetings. He is represented in some of Saturday's most valuable races, with Addicted To You, who contests the £50,000 1m6f handicap at Newmarket (3.40), possessing an especially interesting profile.

Addicted To You was steadily progressive in the main last season but appeared to take a huge jump forward on his seasonal reappearance at Chelmsford when absolutely bolting up by ten lengths. He is 10lb higher but could simply be a different proposition to the horse we saw last year.

Other names of note for Johnston include Titi Makfi, who contests a Group 3 at Haydock (2.50), and prolific juvenile No Lippy, who runs in the Hilary Needler at Beverley (3.15).

ONE JOCKEY
Richard Kingscote

Few jockeys ride anywhere as well as Richard Kingscote rides Haydock.

Kingscote's 87 winners from 448 rides at Haydock (19 per cent strike-rate) show a staggering profit of £113.52 to £1 stakes.

He has five rides on Saturday's card, including Podemos for Ralph Beckett in the opening 1m4f handicap. Kingscote has finished runner-up on both starts aboard Podemos, who pulled clear with a well-bred rival last time and doesn't look harshly treated on his handicap debut.

In the concluding handicap, Kingscote rides No I'm Easy, who appeared to find six furlongs at Chester too sharp a test on his return and a mile at Haydock just stretching his stamina last time. The drop to seven furlongs could be just right.

ONE HORSE
Emmaus (4.00 Haydock)

Arguably the best race in Britain is the Group 3 Betway John of Gaunt Stakes, in which Emmaus is likely to prove popular in the market after his impressive winning return at Leicester in April.

The lightly raced Emmaus made it to the track just once last year, when he competed in a 7f handicap in October. However, connections were rewarded for their patience as he got the better of a thrilling duel with the classy Sir Dancealot, suggesting he was potentially a Group-race performer in the making.

That view was bolstered by his Listed win in April and the son of Invincible Spirit remains an exciting prospect having raced just four times in his career.

ONE RACE
Belmont Stakes (11.46 Belmont)

It may be a fairly low-key weekend of racing in Britain but it is a huge one in the US and it is well worth staying up to watch the Bob Baffert-trained Justify attempt to win the Belmont Stakes and secure the coveted Triple Crown.

Justify lifted the so-called 'curse of Apollo' in becoming the first horse since 1882 to win the Kentucky Derby without having run as a two-year-old, and he battled through the slop to beat the reopposing Bravazo in the Preakness. Now the unbeaten colt, who is an even-money favourite for the Belmont, must triumph on his first attempt at a mile and a half if he is to join an illustrious club of champions – only 12 horses have won the Triple Crown, with Baffert's American Pharoah the last to complete the historic treble in 2015.
