One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch at Newmarket on Friday
Trainer
Roger Varian has his string in top form and, astonishingly, of the 37 runners he has sent out in the last fortnight, 25 have finished in the first three with ten winning.
Laneqash warrants plenty of respect in the Unibet 'You're On' Joel Stakes (3.35) having made the frame at this level on his two starts this season. This will be his first test at a distance other than seven furlongs.
The Newmarket trainer also has good chances in the handicaps with Fooraat (1.50) and Alhezabr (4.40), while Lady Hayes is a contender on her Haydock form in the Princess Royal Stakes (2.25).
Femme Friendly is the outsider of the ten Rockfel runners on her first attempt in Pattern company.
Jockey
Rossa Ryan has ridden two Group winners already this season and teams up with the same trainers who provided them, David Loughnane and Ralph Beckett, as he looks to add to his haul on Friday.
Ryan partners the Beckett-trained Albaflora in the Unibet Princess Royal Stakes (2.25) and she would appear to have leading claims dropping to Group 3 level after a fine second to Snowfall in the Yorkshire Oaks.
The Ryan-Loughnane partnership seeks a top-level breakthrough in Saturday's Middle Park and could get a significant confidence boost if Hello You can strike in the Unibet Rockfel Stakes (3.00). She has some promising form, including a close second in the Albany at Royal Ascot.
Ryan is not without a chance on his other ride, Don't Tell Claire, in the Unibet-sponsored Rosemary Stakes (1.50). She is in fine form after two wins and a second in three outings.
Horse
Plenty has changed since we last saw Master Of The Seas but a short-head defeat by Poetic Flare in the 2,000 Guineas looks an outstanding piece of form given what that rival has gone on to achieve.
Master Of The Seas was reported to have suffered a setback two weeks after his huge effort in the Classic and he makes a return in this competitive Group 2 Joel Stakes (3.35).
His best performances have come at Newmarket where he landed the Superlative on the July course and set up his Guineas bid with a smart success in the Craven.
He remains a talented prospect in the mile division and it will be fascinating to see how he compares with fellow Godolphin rival Benbatl after a 146-day absence.
Race
You have to go back to 2006 to find the last Rockfel winner who went on to win the 1,000 Guineas, but this year's line-up is packed with potential.
Majestic Glory landed the Sweet Solera over course and distance and is likely to head the betting, Girl On Film made quite an impression when winning here last month, while the Roger Charlton-trained Jumbly is two from two.
Oscula has had a brilliant season and is respected for George Boughey, while Romantic Time landed the Dick Poole on her last start.
