One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to follow on Saturday

Trainer

Hugo Palmer may have not had a winner for three weeks but his horses aren't running as if they are out of form.

Since the start of May eight of his 12 runners have finished fifth or better – including one second and four thirds – and it seems only a matter of time until his luck turns.

Palmer has three runners at three different meetings on Saturday with Heavenly Holly looking to hold a decent chance in the Listed Kilvington Stakes (3.30) for fillies and mares at Nottingham, while Labrega, who runs in the mile fillies’ handicap (3.25) at Ascot looks sure to improve for her comeback run at Chelmsford.

Palmer's final runner is Arbalet in the Listed Pertemps Network Spring Trophy Stakes (4.20) at Haydock. Third in last year's Group 3 City of York Stakes, he will be ridden for the first time by in-form jockey Pat Cosgrave.

Jockey

Danny Tudhope has got off to a flyer in the Stobart Flat Jockeys’ Championship and sits in second place on seven winners, one behind three-time champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa at the start of racing on Friday.

Tudhope clocked up three winners over the first two days of the Chester May meeting and has three rides at Lingfield on Saturday before going on to Thirsk, where he has five rides at the evening fixture.

The jockey, who is operating at a strike-rate of 30 per cent (14 wins from 46 rides in the past fortnight), teams up with Michael Bell's Eagles By Day in the RaceBets Derby Trial Stakes (2.30) at Lingfield, before riding Perfection for boss David O'Meara in the Group 3 RaceBets Million Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes (3.40).

Perfection won a Listed race for John Gosden at Newmarket on her final appearance last season and steps up in class on her first outing for O'Meara.

Tudhope's final ride at Lingfield is Lamloon for O'Meara in the 7½f handicap (4.15), while his rides at Thirsk are Emirates Knight (6.45), Dancing Rave (7.15), Ad Libitum (7.45), Justice Lady (8.15) and Milton Road (8.45).

Horse

Michael Wigham's Sanaadh passed six horses in the final furlong when scoring in a 7f all-weather handicap at Kempton in March and reverts to turf in the Tote Victoria Cup (4.00 Ascot) off a 4lb higher mark of 95.

The son of Exceed And Excel has improved markedly since returning from a spell in Germany and he can deploy his turn of foot to good effect under Connor Beasley, who has had two wins from just six career rides at Ascot.

Race

All-conquering trainer Aidan O'Brien is responsible for four of the seven runners in the Group 3 Irish National Stud EBF Blue Wind Stakes for fillies and mares (3.20 Naas), but it's possible he won't be responsible for the favourite.

O'Brien won the race when it was staged at the Curragh last year, but has not been successful in the contest at its traditional home since the Johnny Murtagh-ridden Adored scored in 2008.

The reason an O'Brien runner is unlikely to head the market is the presence of the Ger Lyons-trained grey Who's Steph, the winner of four of her eight races.

Who's Steph ran out an easy eight-length winner of a Listed race at Gowran Park last weekend and is the highest-rated in the race off a mark of 108.

Eve Johnson Houghton adds further intrigue by sending Magnolia Springs to Ireland from her Oxfordshire base, while Dermot Weld, who has been successful in the race four times, runs Tarnawa, who could boost the form of O'Brien's Investec Oaks ante-post favourite Pink Dogwood, to whom she finished third last time.
