One jockey, one trainer, one horse and one race to watch at Epsom on Friday
Jockey
Jim Crowley has four eyecatching rides on Oaks day, especially in the main race itself with the Roger Varian-trained Zeyaadah.
Three from three in her juvenile season, Zeyaadah ran a fine race in the Cheshire Oaks last time when she was unlucky to finish second. She looks open to any amount of improvement and is a live contender in the Cazoo Oaks (4.30).
Before that ride, Crowley may have already won a Group 1 over the course and distance with Al Aasy seemingly the one to beat in the Coral Coronation Cup (3.10).
The post-race comment described his latest Group 3 success as a "canter" so it should be interesting to see how he copes with a step up to the top level.
Elsewhere, Muraad has a bit to find in the 1m½f handicap (2.35) but Count Otto has form figures of 122 at Epsom so is a key player in the 5.40.
Trainer
Archie Watson has made a fine start to his training career and he looks to add a first Classic winner to his CV when Sherbet Lemon runs in the Oaks (4.30).
Apple Tree Stud's daughter of Lemon Drop Kid was a surprise winner of the Lingfield Oaks Trial last time and is a big outsider here once again. Her latest success was on only her third start so there should be more to come.
Watson is strongly represented in the Coral-sponsored Surrey Stakes (5.10) with Mehmento who is back down in grade. He has shaped like a smart prospect and looks to bounce back from finishing down the field in the French 2,000 Guineas.
Debut winner Dusky Prince is a leading fancy in the Woodcote (2.00) while the consistent Above will also be towards the top of the betting in the closing 7f handicap (5.40).
Horse
Santa Barbara remains one of the most mysterious horses in training and once again tops the betting for a Classic in the Oaks (4.30).
Despite having only won a maiden, she was sent off a 5-2 joint-favourite for the 1,000 Guineas last time and ran a respectable race when fourth.
She may be better over a mile and a half and it will be fascinating to see whether she can live up to her huge reputaion at Ballydoyle.
Race
It is Classic time again with the Oaks (4.30) taking centre stage on the first of two great days at Epsom.
Aidan O'Brien has won this race four times in the last six years so it is no surprise to see him dominate this year's betting with Santa Barbara, Snowfall and Divinely all with big chances.
Elsewhere, Roger Varian is well represented with Teona and Zeyaadah while 1,000 Guineas second Saffron Beach looks a fascinating contender.
