One horse, one trainer, one jockey and one race to watch on Saturday

Horse

Umm Hurair (3.40) bids for a historic success in the feature £100,000 Coral Winter Oaks Fillies' Handicap at Lingfield as the first runner for the new training partnership of Harry and Roger Charlton.

The father-and-son team confirmed their joint licence this week and this four-year-old arrives on the back of a hat-trick at Wolverhampton.

She has leading claims in the 1m2f event and has the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle.

Trainer

It is a big day for Northumberland trainer Ann Hamilton, who saddles odds-on favourite Tommy's Oscar (2.00) in The New One Unibet Hurdle, registered as a Champion Hurdle trial at Haydock.

Hamilton has just four horses in training, including 2020 Old Roan Chase winner Nuts Well, so it would be a remarkable if Tommy’s Oscar strengthens his Champion Hurdle claims with success on Saturday.

Danny McMenamin's mount seeks a four-timer and is very much the one to beat on ratings. He is a general 50-1 shot to land the Champion Hurdle.

Jockey

Amateur Lucy Turner is a good asset to Venetia Williams' yard and boasts a 17 per cent (14-84) strike-rate in the past five seasons.

She has finished second, third and fourth in three mounts at Ascot and has two opportunities to gain a first course success.

Turner claims a valuable 7lb off the classy Fanion D'Estruval (2.55) in the 2m5f handicap chase – an opportunity for a winner on ITV4 – and earlier takes the mount on recent Ludlow runner-up Didero Vallis (1.10) in the 3m handicap chase.

Race

The SBK Clarence House Chase (3.35) at Ascot is the race everyone is talking about with Shishkin and Energumene clashing for the first time. Add last year's winner First Flow into the mix and you have a certified showstopper.

Shishkin and Energumene have been beaten just once each in a combined 19 starts under rules and face each other here ahead of a potential rematch in the Champion Chase.

First Flow beat Politologue and Waiting Patiently in this race last year and returned with an impressive win in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon. He cannot be discounted either.
