Haydock’s meeting on Friday, October 18 has been called off due to waterlogging.

The course received a substantial level of rainfall in September which has carried through to this month, with around 10mm of rain on Thursday night. As more rain is forecast next week, officials have taken the decision to cancel the fixture now.

"We are extremely disappointed to have to abandon next Friday’s racing," said Dickon White, regional director of Jockey Club Racecourses North West.

"The track is heavily waterlogged and, as always, safety is paramount for all our equine and human participants at Haydock."

He added: "We wanted to give racegoers as much notice as possible and of course there will be full refunds to everyone who purchased tickets in advance."

Haydock’s next scheduled meeting is on Saturday, November 23, when the Betfair Chase will take place. Newton Abbot's fixture on Sunday has also been cancelled due to waterlogging.
