Remastered has proved popular in the betting this morning and has been backed into a general 11-1 (from 14) to provide David Pipe with a second success in the Ladbrokes Trophy.

A classy novice chaser who landed the Reynoldstown at Ascot last season, the eight-year-old finished an encouraging third in an Aintree handicap hurdle on his return and is set to be ridden by 3lb claimer Fergus Gillard for the first time.

Remastered is as short as 10-1 with Unibet as his trainer seeks his first win in the race for the first time in 13 years, having won the prestigious handicap chase with Madison du Berlais when it was run as the Hennessy Gold Cup in 2008.

Willie Mullins' Munster National winner Ontheropes, impressive in the Limerick feature last month, is on the drift and is now a general 13-2 shot having been 9-2 in places yesterday, while his Irish-trained counterpart Eklat de Rire remains at the head of the betting.

Outsider One More Fleurie – well beaten at Ascot at the end of last month – continues to be backed and is as short as 18-1, having been as big as 25-1 yesterday evening.

In the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, Monmiral is closing in on last year's winner Epatante at the top of the market as seeks to lay down his Champion Hurdle claims in the 2m Grade 1.

The four-year-old was one of the top juveniles last season, culminating with success at Aintree Grand National meeting, and now a general 7-4 chance to give Paul Nicholls a third win in the Fighting Fifth, with the Nicky Henderson-trained Epatante the 13-8 favourite.

Glen Forsa has overtaken The Ferry Master as the market leader in the Listed Rehearsal Chase and is as short as 9-2 with bet365, with The Ferry Master a general 11-2 chance, while Classic Chase winner Notachance is now 11-1 in places (from 14).

Wolverhampton goes ahead

A third inspection at Wolverhampton was passed this afternoon ahead of Saturday's eight-race evening card.

The fixture was in doubt, with inspections held at 11am and 12.30pm, due to the snowy weather caused by Storm Arwen, but conditions are raceable with conditions having improved significantly.

Racing starts at 4pm although the weather has caused two non-runners on the card. Roger Fell is unable to bring Lucy Lulu to the track due to travel, reportedly with a tree blown down across a road, while the Kevin Ryan-trained Steponit was taken out due to strong winds.

Newcastle's Fighting Fifth card began at 11.45 and clerk of the course James Armstrong said: "We're good to go, but we'll obviously monitor the situation if the wind picks up again."

No Newbury inspection but officials cautious

Officials are also closely monitoring wind speeds at Newbury on Ladbrokes Trophy day. The ground is officially good to soft, good in places following 3mm rain overnight but could change.

"It was rain and sleet overnight which maintained the ground conditions and it's due to carry on in the morning, so it could just ease slightly and take the good out of the going," clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said.

"It's very windy, there's no scheduled inspection but we'll keep monitoring closely. There was no damage at all and everything is in place, so we're happy at the moment but it'll be windy all day. We'll keep monitoring the speeds and holding on to our hats."

Bangor off after Storm Arwen battering

Bangor's meeting was cancelled early on Saturday morning due to the aftermath left by Storm Arwen, which made areas for racegoers unsafe and left the racecourse and nearby village with no power.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris said: "We've got severe damage, it's really left the public areas unsafe. It's not long-term but there isn't time for us to ensure everything is safe before racing. Public safety is the number one concern and that's why we've unfortunately had to abandon.

"It's one of those freak incidents. It's been an interesting morning for sure with the great British weather."

There are inspections for the two British fixtures on Sunday at Carlisle and Leicester, with both tracks assessing conditions at 8am on raceday due to the threat of frost.
