Lizzie Kelly passed fit to partner Siruh Du Lac in BetVictor Gold Cup
Lizzie Kelly has been passed fit to ride leading contender Siruh Du Lac in Saturday’s BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
Kelly, who teamed up with the Nick Williams-trained six-year-old to land the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate at the course in March, had been facing a race against time to retain the partnership after breaking her arm in a fall at Exeter last month.
The rider also injured her left shoulder when Rococo River fell during a beginners’ chase on October 10.
Kelly said: “I'm delighted to have been passed fit to ride again, the bones have healed well. A massive thank-you to all at Oaksey House. I really couldn’t have done it without the team there.”
Siruh Du Lac, who is a general 11-2 second favourite behind Slate House for Saturday's race, beat Janika by three-quarters of a length at Cheltenham. That runner-up has since boosted the form by winning the Haldon Gold Cup.
Kelly added: “Siruh Du Lac looks to have a real chance. The rain is going to make it a real slog. I’m looking forward to it.”
