Harry Cobden admits everything will need to go his way from now until the end of the season if he is to stop Brian Hughes from celebrating a second successive jump jockeys' title come the end of April.

The 22-year-old heads into a big weekend with 87 winners to his name, having already surpassed last season's tally with two and a half months of the season to go, but is 14 adrift of the reigning champion.

Cobden, who heads to Carlisle for one ride for his boss Paul Nicholls on Tuesday, said: "I'm 14 winners behind which is not an impossible task, but we need things to go our way from now on if I'm going to achieve it this season."

Although the lion's share of his winners have come from Nicholls, Cobden has had some notable backing of other trainers in recent months including Colin Tizzard, for who he rode Mister Malarky to win the Listed Silver Cup at Ascot before Christmas.

Cobden added: "As well as Paul, I've had some great support from Colin Tizzard in recent months so the title race is not over yet.

"I know Paul is up for it so we'll see how we go in the next couple of months but I'm sure Brian will be all out for it as well."
