The ceremonial funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, at 3pm on Saturday means the sporting schedule has a different look – and it is not just racing that has respectfully reshuffled its deck.

Ayr’s Scottish National meeting and the Greenham fixture at Newbury have been moved to Sunday with ITV’s main channel devoting its coverage to the funeral at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, while afternoon meetings at Thirsk and Bangor have been brought forward to 11.10am and 11.25am starts to ensure they finish before 3pm.

The Curragh’s card, including the Group 3 Gladness Stakes and Alleged Stakes, runs through as scheduled from 1.30pm to 5.25pm, while evening meetings at Brighton, where racing returns for the first time since October 2019, and Nottingham begin at 4.20pm and 4.40pm.
