Rising star Hollie Doyle is recovering well in hospital after losing most of her teeth in a nasty fall at Haydock on Saturday night.

Midway through the opening 1m2f handicap, Doyle was unseated from the David Loughnane-trained 66-1 chance Snoop, who bounced off the railing while exiting the back straight. She was kicked in the mouth on her way down and was taken to hospital.

For the 21-year-old the experience was in stark contrast to what she experienced aboard her previous ride, also on a 66-1 shot, at Royal Ascot the day before, when she partnered the Henry Candy-trained Ortiz to finish second in the Sandringham Handicap.

Hollie Doyle career record

Doyle, who missed Royal Ascot last year due to a broken collarbone, said on Sunday: “I’m looking forward to getting home and resting up.

"I’m not sure how long I will be out for, but I'll be back as soon as my teeth are sorted and the stitches are removed."

Doyle, who has ridden 21 winners this year, added: “It’s been a weird week for me, but racing always works in swings and roundabouts and it could have been a lot worse – at least I didn’t miss Ascot this time!”
