Punters are siding with Hollie Doyle's mount Nell Quickly in the Group 3 Betfred Pinnacle Stakes (2.55) at Haydock.

The Denis Coakley-trained filly boasts impressive form figures of 4/212111- and has been cut to 5-1 (from 8) to make a winning return this afternoon.

Doyle has rode Nell Quickly three times, recording two wins and a second on the progressive four-year-old, and Coakley landed this race in 2015 with Miss Marjurie.

Sea La Rosa, the mount of Doyle's husband Tom Marquand, tops the market at a general 3-1.

William Buick makes his first visit to Beverley in more than five years this afternoon and Chateau, his mount in one of the feature two-year-old events, has been well supported.

The Andrew Balding-trained colt is into 9-4 second favourite (from 9-2 on Friday) for the bet365 Two Year Old Trophy Conditions Stakes (3.15).

Chateau shaped with promise when third at Salisbury on debut this month. He was unlucky in running and noted as an eyecatcher by our expert race-readers.

The betting is headed by 2-1 favourite Whistle And Flute, a winner and runner-up in two starts for Eve Johnson Houghton.

Buick has seven rides on the card with Alphonse Le Grande the biggest price of his mounts at 10-1 in the 1m4f handicap (3.50).

In the other Class 2 contest (2.05) at Beverley, Distinguished Lady has been backed into 5-2 favourite (from 5-1 on Friday).

The Richard Hannon-trained filly finished third on debut at Newmarket. She showed good early pace that day, is well drawn in stall one and is the sole mount of the day for Hayley Turner.

Haydock confident Saturday meeting will go ahead after Friday abandonment

Haydock officials are confident there will be no problems with Saturday’s meeting going ahead, with a selection of senior jockeys set to walk the track before racing to assess conditions.

Racing was abandoned after two races at the Merseyside course on Friday evening due to unsafe ground, with several riders reporting the ground being too slippery on both bends.

Saturday’s fixture takes place on the outer track on fresh ground, with course officials working last night and this morning to ensure a safe racing surface.

Saturday cards

The first race at Haydock is at 1.10, with four of the seven races televised on ITV including the feature Group 3 Betfred John Of Gaunt Stakes (3.30). The going changed to good, good to firm in places (from good) at midday.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright said on Saturday morning: “We’re on the outer track and on a fresh line today, so it’s different ground and we have verti-drained, which will have the effect of putting more ease into the ground, and applied sand to the bends since racing last night.

“We will have a look at the bends before racing with some senior jockeys to reassure them about the surface. I think it will ride good ground or just a shade quicker.”

Haydock is one of ten tracks hosting racing on Saturday in Britain and Ireland, with ITV also televising three races from Beverley, including two Class 2 conditions stakes for juveniles, and one from Chester.
