Ballycasey, who beat subsequent Gold Cup winner Don Cossack when winning the Grade 1 Dr PJ Moriarty Novice Chase in February 2014, has been retired at the age of 12.

He won 11 of his 43 starts, including five at Graded level, earning over £290,000 in prize-money.

Last seen finishing fourth in the Dooley Insurance Group Cross Country Chase at the Punchestown festival, Rich and Susannah Ricci's grey made a winning debut under rules at Leopardstown in 2011 and raced every year until 2019.

His last win came in a Grade 3 at Killarney in May 2017, earning him the admiration of Ruby Walsh, who said he was a pleasure to ride and loved teaming up with him.

A versatile performer, Ballycasey ran in four Cheltenham Festivals and ran in two Grand Nationals.
