A funding page on the website gofundme.com has been set up for injured rider Jacob Pritchard Webb as he battles multiple injuries sustained in an Auteuil fall last month.

The British jump jockey, who has been attached to Emmanuel Clayeux’s jumps yard in central France since September last year, suffered broken T4 and T6 vertebrae following the fall of Galant Des Boulats on June 23 which has left him with a compressed spinal cord, resulting in paralysis from the waist down.

He suffered breaks to his ribs and sternum in addition to dislocating his C6 and damaging a lung.

Doctors have told Pritchard Webb that there is a range of outcomes in terms of how much mobility he might regain, and much will depend on what long-term nerve damage is revealed when the initial trauma subsides.

Pritchard Webb, 23, acknowledges that he will be unable to ride again, and is planning to become a bloodstock agent when his rehabilitation is complete.

His friend Alice Cosgrove, who has organised the funding page, hopes £20,000 can be raised.

“Jake’s recovery will be a long journey, but it’s a journey that I would like to help ease the burden of, hence why we have set up this funding page,” she said.

“Any donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully received. Should Jake make a recovery in the long term, any equipment that may no longer be needed will be donated to the Injured Jockeys’ Fund.”

Donations can be made here.
