If you are one of the 77 Tote Ten To Follow players who picked First Flow for your team before the game started then you had a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon watching the rising star among two-mile chasers hurtle from fence to fence to land the Clarence House Chase and grab 43.20 Ten To Follow points in the process.

Added to his Castleford Chase success at Christmas, it makes Kim Bailey's long-awaited Grade 1 winner the second biggest points scorer in the competition on 71.00, behind only Frodon on 74.50. There could be more to come, too, especially if the ground were to come up testing at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Clarence House made rather less comfortable viewing for followers of Politologue, Waiting Patiently and Defi Du Seuil, who had been expected to dominate proceedings and establish their positions for the festival. Politologue's second place did earn a meagre 1.10 points which was just enough for him to pass Bristol De Mai into fourth spot among the season's leading points scorers and for a few minor place changes on the players' leaderboard, which is still headed by Emilys Joy from Rubbish Mario Sisters.

Another bold performance from the front at Ascot from Dashel Drasher and partner Matt Griffiths earned 18.4 points for 48 stables, while Roksana's victory garnered 21.2 points.

At Haydock there will have been some relief for the 505 Ten To Follow supporters of dual Champion Hurdle winner Buveur D’Air that he came through his long-awaited return unscathed in the New One Hurdle but disappointment he could not match the pace of Navajo Pass, who skipped away in front for Sean Quinlan. That success for the Donald McCain-trained hurdler secured 24.4 points for 21 teams and puts Navajo Pass in 13th place among the season's leaders on 44.60.

Elsewhere, a superb recovery from Bryony Frost and Yala Enki brought the duo land back-to-back Portman Cups at Taunton, bagging 12.3 points for 226 stables, while Brewin’upastorm reverted to hurdles with aplomb on the same card to land 14.8 points.

The Nicky Henderson-trained novice hurdler Gallyhill looks to have a big future after claiming victory at Newbury for 16 stables, picking up 12.3 points, and Mack The Man, fancied when brought down in the Betfair Hurdle last year, landed 11.2 points at Wincanton.

Dame De Compagnie triumphed in a match with Cornerstone Lad at Ayr to score 11.2 points for 271 stables and Champagnesuperover bagged 13.2 points with victory on the same card for 18 stables.
