Expert eyecatchers: interesting Sunday runners selected by Racing Post analysts
Racing Post analysts select an eyecatcher after every meeting and here we highlight a selection of Sunday runners who have been put up as horses to watch.
Makka Pakka
2.15 Downpatrick
Analyst note: Would have been closer but for a bad mistake at the last
Makka Pakka's big mistake came at the last when ultimately finishing fifth at Thurles in February – he was second prior to that blunder. Back at the same course 17 days ago he finished a moderate third.
However, both of those races were more competitive than today's opportunity, and the six-year-old could notch a first win win under rules.
Another Stowaway
3.45 Exeter
Looked a different horse on first run since a wind op. He has a big pot in him
The Tom George-trained seven-year-old was a wide-margin winner in January following a wind operation, and although he ran well at this course on his next start, he possibly found the three-mile trip a bit too far.
He still finished a narrow third behind a useful pair, and dropping back to 2m3f could prove the right move with this unexposed novice chaser.
Aussie Valentine
4.10 Naas
Disappointed but is one to keep the right side of in the Irish Lincoln
The Flat is back and so is Aussie Valentine for his fifth consecutive Irish Lincoln. The eight-year-old could only finish third when 5-4 favourite at Dundalk last month, but one suspect his trainer Ado McGuiness has him primed for today.
After all, Aussie Valentine has placed in all four of his Irish Lincolnshire runs, and his trainer is also in fine form at present, with four winners in the last fortnight.
