Frodon is set to return to the scene of some of his finest moments with the new challenge of giving weight away to a maximum of seven rivals in the Grade 2 Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham on Saturday.

The tenacious seven-year-old, who will also be tackling three miles for the first time since December 2017, is one of two entries for Paul Nicholls, with Black Corton also a possible contender.

Welsh National winner Elegant Escape could also step up in grade for the Gold Cup trial, although no horse has won the trial and the Gold Cup in March since Looks Like Trouble completed the double in 2000.

The Nicky Henderson-trained pair of Valtor and Terrefort are other possible contenders, as are last year's second American, 2017 Gold Cup runner-up Minella Rocco and Allysson Monterg.

The Lightning Novices' Chase at Doncaster was also reopened until Tuesday and has attracted ten entries, featuring a possible rematch between Lalor and his Sandown conquerer Dynamite Dollars, both of whom are prominent in the market for the Racing Post Arkle.

Impressive Kempton handicap winner Glen Forsa and the Gary Moore-trained Knocknanuss are also among the ten but both hold alternative entries.

In the third and final reopened race, the Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle, Champion Chase entrant Lady Buttons is the standout name among the ten mares who could clash at Doncaster.
