Edwardstone and Jonbon play the popular roles in weekend scoring
One glance at the table of the leading horses in the Tote Ten to Follow jumps competition tells the story of a momentous weekend.
Edwardstone, Teahupoo, Jonbon, Marine Nationale and Mighty Potter have barged their way into the top ten after their exploits at Sandown and Fairyhouse, and look set to play major roles in the months ahead.
A list of the top ten most selected horses in the competition would reveal a tale of disappointment, with Honeysuckle and Shishkin, the third most popular pick and the tenth, with 63.7 and 24.9 per cent of players having them in their teams, failing to register.
Edwardstone was the weekend’s most significant scorer in collecting 58.10 points in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown for 20.2 per cent of teams, which makes him the second most selected among the top ten points scorers.
Ahead of him in the popularity stakes is Jonbon, who represented 38.9 per cent of teams when racking up 26.19 points in the Henry VIII Chase at Sandown to take his total to 37.59 and move him into sixth on the scoring charts.
He is one place behind Teahupoo, who dented Honeysuckle’s prospects of collecting a fourth Hatton’s Grace Hurdle and secured 47.50 points to boot.
However, he figures in only 0.8 per cent of teams, while fellow Fairyhouse scorers, Marine Nationale and Mighty Potter, benefited 0.9 and 4.4 per cent of teams respectively as they collected 33.40 and 30.60 points for Grade 1 wins.
The latter also hoists Hit The Line 22 into top place among leading teams.
