Dettori takes over as Enable takes step closer towards comeback
Enable
John Gosden
Frankie Dettori was watched by the Arc winner's lad, and regular work rider, Imran Shavani as she breezed with a smart senior companion over seven furlongs at second lot on the Al Bahathri. The daughter of Nathaniel, who Shavani's brother Afzal used to look after in his days at Clarehaven, was paying her third visit to the Polytrack facility since recovering from a setback she sustained in May. She is working towards a belated return to action at Kempton next month.
Adamant
Sir Michael Stoute
Michael Holding, who was all smiles after his favourite horse Mirage Dancer won at Goodwood at the weekend, looked on as the four-year-old swept past on the Al Bahathri in his distinguishing orange cap. Members of the Lord Tennyson syndicate from owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing were also on hand to witness the German-bred who, coincidentally, is entered in a BBA Germany-sponsored 1m2f handicap at Newmarket on Saturday.
Worth Waiting
David Lanigan
Lanigan has the luxury of having one of the few yards on the Hamilton Road with an equine pool, which has been a bonus for keeping his team cool during the recent hot spell, although it was pleasantly cooler when his team exercised on the Cambridge Road Polytrack. The three-year-old, who went clear of her lead in stylish fashion under Ted Durcan, took the transition from handicap to Listed class in her stride last time and is booked for the Group 3 Prix Minerva at Deauville on Sunday.
Alternative Fact
Ed Dunlop
Like a many trainers, Dunlop was taking a post-Goodwood break so his understudy Victoria Hayter was in command to supervise the work on the Al Bahathri on Tuesday. The son of Dalakhani was not beaten far when fifth to the useful Melting Dew at Sandown last time and looked in good shape for a possible appearance at Saturday's Shergar Cup when covering a mile under Gerald Mosse.
Great Work!
Pleasant Surprise
Luca Cumani
Cumani's secretary Catherine Elliott took the gold star for endeavour in exceptional circumstances when coming out to video the Bedford House workers despite having one arm in a sling after a snowboarding accident. Pleasant Surprise made it easy for her by going clear of Fairlight in smart fashion and looks to have improved since her slightly disappointing comeback at York last month.
