Charlie Appleby kicks off a big month for his three-year-olds at Longchamp on Wednesday when Hurricane Lane tackles the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris.

The trainer also hopes to have his Derby winner Adayar and Royal Ascot scorer Kemari in action in the coming weeks.

Hurricane Lane has pleased connections in his work at Moulton Paddocks since his success in the Irish Derby at the Curragh last month.

Appleby said: "He bounced out of his Irish Derby victory in very good order and it's a long time to wait between now and his ultimate target of the St Leger."

"He worked very well on Saturday morning, after which the decision was taken to supplement him for Longchamp. It is a chance to take on the three-year-olds over a mile and a half again and looks a good opportunity to hopefully win another Group 1 with him."

Also in work on Saturday morning was Epsom hero Adayar, who is on course to tackle his elders for the first time in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot on July 24, for which he is 5-2 second favourite behind Love.

The son of Frankel was sent off at generous odds of 16-1 when accounting for Mojo Star and Hurricane Lane at Epsom and is reported to be in excellent shape by trainer.

He said: "Adayar just did some routine work on Saturday but has pleased us since Epsom and he's very much on course for Ascot. It will be fascinating to see how he gets on against the older horses but it's all systems go at the moment."

Appleby also has the Group 2 Queen's Vase winner Kemari among his embarrassment of riches in the three-year-old division and the son of Dubawi is being aimed at a return to action at York next month.

Kemari was having just his third start when accounting for subsequent Irish Derby third Wordsworth at Royal Ascot and could be a St Leger type.

Appleby said: "Kemari has been in good form since Ascot and the plan is to take him straight to the Group 2 Sky Bet Great Voltigeur at York on August 18."
