Confirmed runners and riders for the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh
A field of 14 will line up in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on Sunday after Wild Beauty was the only filly to be taken out at the final declaration stage on Friday morning.
The absence of the Charlie Appleby-trained Fred Darling winner means that James Ferguson's Mise En Scene and Purplepay are the only British raiders, with ante-post market leaders Tuesday and Homeless Songs set to take their place in the €500,000 Group 1 event.
Tuesday, who finished third in the Newmarket equivalent at the start of the month, is bidding to provide Aidan O'Brien with a record-extending 11th win in the race.
O'Brien is also represented by History, who had four of Sunday's rivals behind her when landing the Group 3 Cornelscourt Stakes last time out. Concert Hall won at the Curragh as a two-year-old and could send the race Ballydoyle's way for the fourth year in a row with Lullaby completing O'Brien's quartet.
It's 40 years since Dermot Weld first won this race with Prince's Polly and Homeless Songs aims to follow up her win in the Leopardstown trial last month and confirm the form with the reopposing Agartha.
Jessica Harrington was the winning trainer the last time the race did not go O'Brien's way in 2018 and she saddles Villanova Queen, while Star Girls Aalmal is an intriguing contender for Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National-winning jumps trainer Henry de Bromhead.
In the other Group 1 on the card, the Tattersalls Gold Cup (2.40), Lord North leads the market for John and Thady Gosden and is Frankie Dettori's only ride of the day.
The six-year-old is the oldest horse in the eight-runner line-up along with Broome and arrives off the back of a dead-heat in Dubai.
Lord North's closest rival in the betting is another globetrotting star as State Of Rest bids to complete a top-level four-timer in a fourth different country after wins in the US, Australia and France.
Alenquer beat Lord North the last time they met although that was in a very different sort of test in the Winter Derby at Lingfield, while Mac Swiney struck at this meeting last year in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and could bounce back to form at the scene of his last victory.
