Buzz horse Santa Barbara, who started favourite for the 1,000 Guineas and Oaks, will face seven rivals in the Alwasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes (3.40), the Group 1 that headlines the action at the Curragh on Sunday.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien for the Coolmore partners and Georg von Opel, Santa Barbara was a Curragh maiden winner last year who spent much of the winter on the tips of tongues for Classic glory.

However, she could not justify her price of 5-2 in the 1,000 Guineas, finishing fourth behind stablemate Mother Earth and she was fifth to fellow Ballydoyle inmate Snowfall in the Oaks.

O'Brien has won the Pretty Polly, which is worth €250,000, four times since 2011 and did not declare his other entries Divinely and Empress Josephine.

Sunday Curragh racecards

Santa Barbara's biggest threat could come from Thundering Nights, who is trained by O'Brien's son Joseph and finished second in a Grade 2 in America recently.
