Betfred have become the latest British bookmaking firm to grab a slice of the betting goldrush in the US having entered into a partnership with Elite Casino Resorts in the state of Iowa.

Subject to regulatory approval, Betfred will offer on-site mobile and online betting to customers of the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa.

Last week the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved Betfred as an out-of-state vendor for the resort. William Hill are also set to have a presence in Iowa in the Eldorado Resorts' Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf and Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo.

Betfred chief executive Fred Done said of the move: "I'm delighted to partner with Elite Casino Resorts in Iowa and we look forward to working with our new partners and sharing our joint expertise in what is a very exciting opportunity and market for Betfred."

Dan Kehl, CEO of Elite Casino Resorts, added: "We are excited to offer our guests another world-class product. With Betfred, Grand Falls Casino and Resort will be the best place in Iowa for sports betting at our casino and on a safe and secure platform."

Last year the United States Supreme Court repealed the law which prohibits sports betting in all but a handful of states, which in turn has opened the floodgates for betting providers to engage with a hitherto untapped market.

Betfred prefaced their Iowa move by hiring Las Vegas-based consultancy firm SCCG Management last October to keep them abreast of any suitable investment opportunities in the US.
