Lizzie Kelly enjoyed one of her finest moments in the saddle at Newbury when she partnered Agrapart to victory in the 2016 Betfair Hurdle and the Grade 1 and Cheltenham Festival-winning rider has now returned to the track in a different capacity.

Kelly is on a summer placement at the Berkshire course, where she will join the raceday presenting team, help with marketing and take up an ambassadorial role as the track prepares for ladies' day on August 18. She enjoyed her first raceday in the role on Thursday.

Kelly, who rides primarily for her stepfather Nick Williams, said: "Home isn't particularly busy at this time of year. Usually during the summer I go and ride out for different trainers but this year I thought I'd do something more interesting and a bit different for me."

"I work three days a week and will be here until the end of August and then we'll see where we're at."

'If you think dress codes are too stuffy then you're wrong'

Kelly, who studied at the University of Winchester and has a degree in events management, explained how different life in the office is to the weighing room.

She joked: "Normally I have a nap between one o'clock and four o'clock, so I'm struggling at the moment."

Rob Boobyer, head of marketing for Newbury racecourse, said: "Working with Lizzie will allow us to provide customers with a unique insight into what it takes to be a jockey, Flat or jump.

"It will be great to have Lizzie's help on some of these trips, as well as adding an extra dimension to our paddock presenting team on our major racedays."

Tears of joy for Kelly with first festival success on Coo Star Sivola

Kelly became the first female jockey to win a Grade 1 over jumps when she partnered Tea For Two to victory in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase in 2015.

She rode the same horse to victory in the Betway Bowl in 2017 and clinched her first Cheltenham Festival win aboard Coo Star Sivola in the Ultima Handicap Chase in March.
