Baaeed bags valuable points for believers who brought him in at transfer time
The only surprising aspect surrounding Baaeed’s win in Sunday’s Prix du Moulin is that this most impressive individual was only the seventh most popular Tote Ten To Follow transfer-in option in last month’s window.
Having made his debut only on June 7, Baaeed was not a contender for the original list and so the 27.2 points which rewarded the faith of 480 stables are his first in the competition.
Unbeaten, and with huge potential, the William Haggas-trained colt now has bonus points in his sights in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on British Champions Day.
Also bagging points at Longchamp was another new addition, Saiydabad, who had finished down the field in the Prix du Jockey Club and Grand Prix de Paris. The return to form of the Aga Khan-owned colt in the Prix du Prince d’Orange was anticipated by just one stable for 20.2 points.
The defeat of the popular Starman in the Sprint Cup was a setback for many.
The race went to Kevin Ryan-trained Emaraaty Ana who had been added to 48 stables in the transfer window and landed 41.7 points for this Group 1 win.
Three others earned points at Haydock: Artistic Rifles took a step up to Group 3 company in the Superior Mile, scoring 25.4 points for six stables; Al Suhail landed a conditions event for 11.3 points for 0.1 per cent of stables; while Without A Fight scored 12.1 points for seven stables.
At Ascot, Uncle Bryn picked up 14.6 points for 0.4 per cent of stables, having been transferred out by a third of those who picked him at the start of the game.
