Ante-post favourite Forest Of Dean a doubt for the Cambridgeshire
Forest Of Dean, 6-1 market leader for the bet365 Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket on Saturday week, is not a definite runner trainer John Gosden revealed on Tuesday.
The three-year-old sprang to the head of the betting after readily beating Johnny Drama by a length and a half at York last month, for which he was put up 10lb to a mark of 110.
However, the son of Iffraaj can run off his old mark of 100 plus a 5lb penalty in Saturday's Dubai Duty Free Handicap Stakes at Newbury, and Gosden is giving that option serious consideration.
The champion trainer, who also has the unexposed pair Star Of Bengal and Lord North in the frame for the Cambridgeshire, said: "The handicapper may well have overreacted putting him up 10lb for York and we have the option of running off his old mark in the Newbury race.
"We may have a couple of others for the Cambridgeshire including Star Of Bengal and Lord North although our other entry Turgenev is doubtful."
