A look at five key Godolphin horses after Castle Lady makes it 300 top-tier wins
Godolphin recorded their 300th top-level triumph when Castle Lady landed the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp on Sunday. Here we recall five important horses for Sheikh Mohammed's organisation.
Lammtarra
Not immediately associated with Godolphin because he ran in the green and white silks of Sheikh Mohammed's son Saeed Maktoum Al Maktoum, but the 1995 Derby hero is unquestionably part of the outfit.
Initially with Alex Scott, he won the Washington Singer as a juvenile before joining Saeed Bin Suroor after his first trainer's death. From Epsom, he completed a sublime treble of key middle-distance events by capturing the King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Daylami
Only one Godolphin horse (Dubai Millennium) is ranked superior to Daylami on Racing Post Ratings, which tells you all about the grey's constitution and talent.
A product of the Aga Khan's breeding programme, the son of Doyoun became a star flagbearer for his new connections at four, winning the Eclipse and Man O' War Stakes.
A Coronation Cup and King George followed at five, before his standout victory in the Irish Champions Stakes in 1999 when Daylami produced a dazzling performance to come nine lengths clear of the aptly named Dazzling Park.
Dubai Millennium
The apple of Sheikh Mohammed's eye, Dubai Millennium was originally christened Yaazer - meaning White Gazelle - until he was renamed following the promise he showed on David Loder's gallops in Newmarket. That translated to the track when he made a winning debut at Yarmouth in October 1998.
He was then switched to Bin Suroor and his sole defeat in the following year's Derby did not take the gloss off a glorious career, which culminated in a breathtaking triumph in the Dubai World Cup and similarly taking Prince of Wales's Stakes success at Royal Ascot in 2000.
Dubawi
A homebred son of Dubai Millennium, Dubawi gave hope he may match his illustrious father by winning three from three as a two-year-old, including the Group 1 National Stakes.
He was beaten in the 2,000 Guineas and Derby at three, although those reverses sandwiched a stylish effort in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
While Dubawi's endeavours on the track might not place him alongside Godolphin stalwarts such as Mark Of Esteem and Sakhee, he has made up for it in the breeding barns, becoming an influential and world-class stallion for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley arm.
Masar
Sheikh Mohammed had seen his brother (Erhaab), son (Lammtarra) and wife (New Approach) have their colours carried to Derby glory and his turn came 12 months ago when Epsom was awash with blue following Masar's strike in the prestigious Classic.
Bred in house by New Approach out of UAE Derby winner Khawlah, Masar helped underline Godolphin's revival as a super-power in thoroughbred racing following years of Coolmore dominance.
Trained by the blue brigade's trusted captain Charlie Appleby, he is due to return to action at Royal Ascot next month.
