Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote brought up a career milestone when they reached 500 winners as a team with the success of newcomer Brookside Banner at Haydock on Friday.

The achievement is all the more remarkable as Kingscote lives in Oxfordshire and Dascombe trains 150 miles north in Malpas, Cheshire, yet the partnership is one of the most successful in recent times.

Dascombe told Racing TV: "It has been lovely to have a jockey of his calibre riding for me for ten or 12 years. I didn't know who he was when I first put him up! We've had a great relationship and I'm very proud of it."

Kingscote was equally complimentary about the enduring partnership as he said: "Tom came along when I had ten winners left in my claim when I was with Roger Charlton.

"Tom's a lovely boss and all credit to him for giving me his support. Long may it continue. It works well and it's rare we have an argument. He'll say his piece and I'll say mine and move on."

It was appropriate that the landmark success came at Haydock as Dascombe and Kingscote have enjoyed great success at one of the trainer's local tracks.

The trainer added: "It's good to do it here and great to do it for owner Seamus Burns, who has been a loyal supporter but we've not had much luck for him."

Brown Panther has been the highlight of the Dascombe/Kinsgcote partnership, with victories in the Group 1 Irish St Leger in 2014 as well as the Dubai Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup.

The pair also enjoyed Royal Ascot successes with Ceiling Kitty's win in the Group 2 Queen Mary in 2012 one of their earliest big successes.

Kingscote, who passed 1,000 career winners this year, is indebted to Dascombe as his next biggest provider of winners has been Ralph Beckett with 91.

Dascombe was sending out his 50th winner of the year with Brookside Banner's debut success and 110th at Haydock in a career total of over 700.
