Land Of Oz, the lightly raced three-year-old tasked with ending trainer Sir Mark Prescott's Cesarewitch hoodoo, has made the cut for Saturday's Emirates-sponsored handicap.

Successful in six of his last seven starts, Land Of Oz, a general 7-1 ante-post chance, needed three horses to come out to guarantee a place in the Cesarewitch field, which has a safety limit of 34.

However, the anxious wait never materialised as only 31 horses were declared for the £350,000 Newmarket marathon on Thursday morning.

They include the majority of the leading contenders, although Aidan O'Brien did not include three-year-olds Barbados and Eminence.

Since Hasten To Add finished fourth in the 1993 Cesarewitch, Prescott has had 27 runners in the race with no joy.

In Land Of Oz, who will be ridden by David Egan, and Timoshenko – the mount of stable jockey Luke Morris – the Newmarket trainer may feel he has a fighting chance of striking.

Frankie Dettori, meanwhile, has been confirmed as the rider of the Willie Mullins-trained ante-post favourite Buildmeupbuttercup.

Rising apprentice Angus Villiers has been booked for topweight Who Dares Wins, a fine fourth in Saturday's Group 1 Prix du Cadran at Longchamp.

Trainer Alan King said: "Who Dares Wins has bounced back from France and the handicapper was obviously impressed as he has put him up 5lb for that Cadran run.

"However, Who Dares Wins, while having to shoulder top weight here, can run off his old mark."
