Lah Ti Dar's absence makes Haggas think again about Sea's Oaks chance

The absence of ante-post favourite Lah Ti Dar has made the Investec Oaks much more of a tempting proposition, trainer William Haggas said on Saturday.

In the wake of Lah Ti Dar being ruled out on Friday by a setback, last weekend's impressive Newbury winner Sea Of Class is generally third favourite for the Epsom Classic at around 6-1.

Haggas appears less keen than owner Ling Tsui about lining up this Friday, and a decision will not be made until Wednesday, when declarations are made.

Haggas said on Saturday: "The favourite coming out has made us think a bit more. The owner is keen to run and it's very possible she will.

"My gut feeling is it would be the wrong decision, but the owner is very keen to go and there's only one Oaks. It's very tempting."

Haggas, who also has Musidora winner Give And Take in the Classic, added: "We'll decide on Wednesday, when I'll let David Milnes [of the Racing Post] know."

Aidan O'Brien has no fewer than eight of the possible 13 runners in the Oaks following Saturday's forfeits.

O'Brien, who has won three of the last six Oaks, sets punters a puzzle with his super eight, which include leading ante-post hopes Magical – second favourite behind Wild Illusion – Magic Wand, Bye Bye Baby and Forever Together, who are all 10-1 or shorter.

Cracksman hot Coronation favourite

Cracksman hardened to 1-3 favourite for the Investec Coronation Cup, the other Group 1 at Epsom on Friday, after seven possible rivals stood their ground on Saturday.

Epsom has not escaped the recent rain and clerk of the course Andrew Cooper reported on Saturday: "We were good to soft first thing but we've had a pleasantly dry morning so would think it would be the slow side of good by the end of the day.

"From Sunday there's a period of unsettled weather coming in for 36 hours, when we could get some showers that are thundery in nature.

"Beyond that it's expected to settle down a bit by the end of the week, but the temperatures are expected to be only low- to mid-20s."
