Monday

British Champions Day might be in the rear-view mirror, but there is still plenty of quality racing on the Flat to kick off the week.

The highlight of the day is the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes at Pontefract (2.00) where Charlie Appleby saddles Local Dynasty, who finished fifth in the Acomb behind subsequent Dewhurst winner Chaldean in August.

Windsor hosts an eight-race card, while Plumpton is the scene for some jumps action, with the feature a handicap chase (3.55).

The day is rounded off by eight races on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.

Tuesday

Exeter offers Tuesday's only jumps meeting, with the handicap chase (2.15) the feature on the card.

Yarmouth brings the curtain down on another season with a host of intriguing handicap action across an eight-race card.

Across the channel at Deauville, there is a double-header for juveniles, with the the Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs (11.20) and the Listed Prix Zeddaan (11.50) taking centre stage.

A trio of English raiders could take their place in the Listed race, California Gem for George Boughey, the Karl Burke-trained Secret Angel and Michael Bell's Kerindia, who finished third to The Antarctic over course and distance in August.

There is more Flat racing over in Ireland at Gowran Park, while Newcastle and Kempton host evening meetings on the all-weather.

Wednesday

There are two afternoon jumps meetings at Fontwell and Worcester, where Paul Nicholls has two entries the bumper (2.40) – Go West and Lime Avenue – in a bid to win the race for the fourth time in five years.

Navan hosts a Flat meeting in Ireland, before Kempton rounds things off on the all-weather.

Thursday

There are plenty of jumps meetings to go at with three meetings at Ludlow, Carlisle and Thurles.

Ludlow is set to finally open its doors after firm ground caused its traditional season curtain-raiser to be abandoned.

Southwell and Wolverhampton provide plenty of entertainment for all-weather fans with the latter bringing the day to a close.

Friday

There is a feast of end of season Flat action, with Doncaster's two-day Vertem Futurity meeting getting under way as well as Newbury.

But many eyes will be drawn to Cheltenham as it hosts its seasonal opener and promises plenty of juicy clashes, with the 2m novice chase (2.10), won last year by subsequent Grade 2 scorer Third Time Lucki, and the 2m4f Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (2.45) the highlights.

Gordon Elliott leads a strong Irish contingent with 16 entries, while Henry de Bromhead has three entered in Champagne Gold, Centurion Steel and Downtown Queen.

Evening action from Ireland comes courtesy of Dundalk, where the Group 3 Mercury Stakes (7.30) is the highlight, while a seven-race card takes place on the all-weather at Newcastle.

Saturday

There is top-class action across the tracks with ITV4 showing races from Newbury, Cheltenham and Doncaster, where we get the chance to see who can etch their name into next season's Classic picture in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity Stakes (3.35).

Recent winners Magna Grecia, Saxon Warrior and Kameko have all followed up victory at Doncaster with Classic success in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket the next season. The Listed Doncaster Stakes (3.00) and some good handicaps make up the seven-race card.
