Grand National-winning jockey and top amateur Patrick Mullins has enlisted the help of champion trainer Dan Skelton in his quest to ride a winner at every jumps track in Britain.

Skelton has taken Whitewinewednesday into his care at his Alcester yard following her success in a handicap hurdle for Mullins’ father Willie at Sedgefield on Tuesday.

The seven-year-old mare was Mullins’ first winner at the County Durham track, with the rider increasingly targeting races at the smaller British courses in a bid to complete the full set.

Mullins has 23 tracks left to tick off and Whitewinewednesday has an entry at one of those courses, Market Rasen, in a 2m3f novice handicap chase on Thursday.

Skelton joked: “I think Patrick was very unhappy with the last trainer. He said there was a lack of communication and he couldn’t put up with it any longer!”

Expanding on how Whitewinewednesday came into his care, Skelton added: “Patrick is trying to win at some venues around Britain and brought her over this week and didn’t want to take her back in between, so has asked us to look after her in the interim.

“We’re going to try to go to Market Rasen next week, and then there’s a few other tracks coming up that Patrick hasn’t had a winner at, so he’s going to try to add to his tally.”

Whitewinewednesday justified 8-15 favouritism by half a length at Sedgefield and is set to make her chasing debut at the Lincolnshire track, having won one of her two starts in Irish point-to-points.

Skelton said: “I know very little about her. She’s bay and female – that’s as much as I know! We’ve cantered her around the warm-up track at home. She’s very fit, obviously, and we’ve got a bit of a plan with these races for Patrick, so we’ll go and do that.”
