Romeo Coolio, one of last season's top novice chasers who won three Grade 1s in three months, has had a summer operation to resolve a back issue and is bang on course to make his comeback at Down Royal next month, potentially in the BetVictor Champion Chase.

A general 16-1 shot for the 2027 Ryanair Chase and as big as 50-1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Romeo Coolio was sent off 9-4 favourite for the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March but was pulled up after an uncharacteristic round of poor jumping.

Back problems were to blame for that disappointing display, and Elliott is excited for the season ahead now those issues have been sorted.
