Jump legends Hardy Eustace and Hurricane Fly celebrate birthdays
Pictured here are hurdling legends Hurricane Fly (right) and Hardy Eustace about to demolish a carrot cake – said to be a favourite of the duo who are now retired at the Irish National Stud.
The pair were both born on April 5 and the cake was made to celebrate their birthdays on Wednesday. Hurricane Fly officially turned 13 on January 1, while Hardy Eustace is 20.
They are part of the Living Legends team at the stud in Tully, County Kildare, along with Kicking King, Beef Or Salmon and Rite Of Passage, and are pictured with students Christian Dodd and Katharina Irmer.
Hurricane Fly won a record 22 Grade 1s, including five consecutive Irish Champion Hurdles and two Champion Hurdles in 2011 and 2013.
Hardy Eustace also won two Champion Hurdles at Cheltenham, his triumphs coming in 2004 and 2005.
