Short-term pain and long-term gain. That's the motto Jonathan Moore is applying to life after missing out on two of the biggest winners of his career at the Cheltenham Festival through injury.

Moore stood himself down on the morning of the Stayers' Hurdle as he felt he would not do Flooring Porter justice on the biggest stage due to an injury he picked up at Naas the previous weekend.

That selfless decision not only cost him victory in the Stayers' Hurdle, but it meant Moore also missed out on Vanillier, who stormed to Albert Bartlett glory under Mark Walsh the following day.
