Davy Russell stormed out of Clonmel on Thursday with no comment to make on an extraordinarily eventful day which brought him bans totalling 17 days - a combination of improper riding and conduct - and a referral to the Turf Club.

Russell's problems actually began with a victory, when he was first past the post in the 2m Kilmore Maiden Hurdle on the Henry de Bromhead-trained Little Folke, who beat Solar Heat, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, by a head.

But a stewards' inquiry was called into possible interference and the placings of the first two were reversed, with Russell incurring a three-day ban for improper riding in the closing stages.
