Jockey Club's 'huge sadness' at restructure that will cause 70 redundancies

The Jockey Club is preparing to reduce staffing levels by just over ten per cent as British racing's biggest commercial organisation seeks to make further cost reductions in response to the sport's Covid-19 funding crisis.
In a group-wide call on Monday morning, Jockey Club employees learned around 70 roles will become redundant as part of changes to the organisation's operational structure that have been determined following a strategic review.
The Jockey Club, which currently employs 638 people, made its latest announcement following last week's government decision to delay the return of spectators to sporting events for up to six months, as a result of which the organisation's estimated annual revenue hit of £75 million is being revised upwards. The Jockey Club has stressed none of its racecourses are under threat.
