ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the six races on ITV4 on Thursday
Matchbook Betting Exchange Handicap, 5f
Copper Knight won the last running of this sprint in 2019, and he is back this year aiming to become the third dual winner in the last decade. Stablemate Count D'Orsay gives trainer Tim Easterby a powerful hand, with the consistent Autumn Flight in contention for Hollie Doyle.
Ran here four times last year and bagged two wins and a close second; appealing claims
Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Middleton Fillies' Stakes, 1m2½f, Group 2
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Queen Power, who was placed in a series of top-class fillies' and mares' contests last year, is favourite and she should be fresh after finishing second in the Dahlia last time out whereas four of her five rivals are making their seasonal reappearance. Aidan O'Brien's Passion drops back in trip and Cabaletta represents the in-form Roger Varian.
Listed winner last year; improvement needed but trainer's horses often get better with age
AJN Steelstock "Record Sales" Handicap, 1m2f
In amongst the action from York is this competitive handicap where Lord Protector is aiming to continue his unbeaten record for trainer Ralph Beckett. He had the reopposing Wahraan behind at Windsor last month, while champion jockey Oisin Murphy has travelled here rather than York and rides Knight Salute.
Eyecatching second to Lord Protector on his return; should be plenty more to come
Matchbook Betting Podcast Hambleton Handicap, 1m
2019 winner What's The Story returns for trainer Keith Dalgleish, but the seven-year-old faces a stiff challenge from the younger brigade. Matthew Flinders didn't take to the soft ground on his last trip to York in October but returned in decent order at Newbury last month. Artistic Rifles is on a hat-trick for Ed Bethell.
2-2 here, both wins gained last summer; good second in the Lincoln on reappearance
Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes, 1m2½f, Group 2
Generally regarded as the pre-eminent Derby trial, the Dante should be hugely informative for this year's Classic given the presence of Beresford Stakes winner High Definition. The Aidan O'Brien-trained star missed his planned comeback at Lingfield last weekend and has since been headed at the top of the Derby market by stablemate Bolshoi Ballet. Gear Up, Royal Champion, Hurricane Lane and Uncle Bryn are others in contention who also have one eye on Epsom.
SPOTLIGHT TIP:High Definition
Mounted storming finishes from the back to snatch 1m Curragh wins as a two-year-old; exciting
British Stallion Studs EBF Westow Stakes, 5f, Listed
The televised action concludes with this Listed sprint where jockey Danny Tudhope could add a fourth victory since 2013 on the Kevin Ryan-trained Dexter Belle. Acklam Express and Winter Belle are others prominent in the betting.
SPOTLIGHT TIP:Acklam Express
Listed winner over C&D as a 2yo; third in Meydan Group 1 last time out; leading player
