ITV Racing tips: one key runner from each of the five races on ITV3 on Friday
1.20 Newbury
Coral Get Closer To The Action Novices' Hurdle, 2m4½f
Lingstown point-to-point winner Stay Away Fay makes his rules debut for Paul Nicholls, who has used this race as a springboard to Challow Hurdle successes for Bravemansgame and Stage Star in the last two seasons. Heezer Geezer was only narrowly beaten on his hurdling debut at Aintree and could be the main threat.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: STAY AWAY FAY
Paul Nicholls has won the last two runnings of this race and this point winner is taken to make a winning rules debut having been bought for £305,000
1.55 Newbury
Coral Racing Club Novices' Chase (Grade 2), 2m4f
Stage Star is two from two at Newbury and made the perfect start to his chasing career when defeating West Cork in a match at Warwick. Colin Parker Memorial winner Beauport and Grade 2-winning hurdler Camprond should make stiffer opposition, provided the latter doesn't unseat Aidan Coleman like he did at Exeter last time.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: STAGE STAR
Winner of the Grade 1 Challow Novices' Hurdle here last season and can make it 2-2 over fences
2.30 Newbury
Coral Bet Bundles Handicap Chase, 2m4f
Dan Skelton has won this twice in the last five years and Beakstown could help improve that strong recent record after a decent reappearance in the Old Roan last month. Course-and-distance winners Paint The Dream and Caribean Boy look the likeliest challengers.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: PAINT THE DREAM
Topweight is very well suited by this C&D and returns here after giving a good account of himself against some high-class chasers in the Charlie Hall
Coral Long Distance Hurdle (Grade 2), 3m
Champ boasts formidable form at Newbury with four wins from five starts. Previous winners of the race Paisley Park and Thomas Darby will pose a strong challenge to the JP McManus-owned market leader, along with last-time-out winners Proschema and Dashel Drasher.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: CHAMP
Last December's Grade 1 Long Walk winner has won four times from five visits to Newbury and can score on this reappearance
3.40 Newbury
Coral Committed To Safer Gambling Handicap Hurdle, 3m
Shearer was unlucky to unseat Adrian Heskin when chasing a hat-trick at Cheltenham last time and could fare better here. Named after former England striker Alan Shearer, the six-year-old could give football fans the perfect appetiser to the evening's World Cup group game against USA as he's the only course winner in the 14-runner line-up.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: FIDUX
Well treated on last season's best chase efforts and can go well fresh
