'It's like going back home' - Laura Pearson returns from serious neck injury

Royal Ascot-winning jockey Laura Pearson is determined to kick on to bigger and better things this year after making her return from nearly six months out after suffering a serious neck injury last summer.

Pearson fractured her C7 vertebra when unseated from Be Lucky My Son at Epsom in July 2022, but had her first ride since when fifth on the Dave Loughnane-trained Inevitable Outcome in a 6f handicap at Wolverhampton on Thursday, and was relieved to be back in the saddle.

"It's brilliant to be back, you get into the weighing room again and it's almost like you've never been away. It's like going back home," she said.
