PJ McDonald ended the year on a high when recording his 1,000th British Flat winner at Chelmsford on Thursday night.

The Group 1-winning rider brought up the landmark on the Mark Johnston-trained Kondo Isami in the 1m2f novice stakes as he signed off 2020 in style.

The former jump jockey, whose career high points have been on popular filly Laurens, becomes the 31st active rider to reach the milestone.
