It's a busy Friday feeling as Falmouth takes centre stage at Newmarket

Mot Juste (centre): Roger Varian filly may go well in the Falmouth
1 of 1

Tomorrow is one of the busiest days of the calendar with decent action at Newmarket, York, Ascot and Chester and those venues also race today.

The first three are afternoon meetings and Chester headlines an evening that also includes Chepstow, Ffos Las and Cork in Ireland.

The day's feature is the Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (3.35), even if those involved with the mile event might be disappointed just six runners have turned up.

However, it still looks a trappy contest with only Mot Juste a double-figure price, although she should not be discounted readily as Roger Varian holds her in high regard.

"Her Oh So Sharp win and second in the Nell Gwyn point to her being pretty useful; she just needs a sound surface to show it," he said last month.

Final thought

Newmarket's 1m6f handicap (3.00), which has had a re-brand and prize-money injection, has attracted a field of 18 and rightly so. The Falmouth may be light on numbers, but this heritage handicap should be well worth watching.
