'It was a big boost' - trainer Nicky Martin savours Welsh National despite flu

Victory for The Two Amigos in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow on Tuesday was the perfect tonic for flu-hit trainer Nicky Martin and her partner John Simpson, who has been diagnosed with throat cancer, but was "jumping around the kitchen" following the ten-year-old's triumph.

Martin had been kicking herself 12 months ago when she forgot to enter the mud-loving gelding in the race he had previously finished fifth and second in.

There were no mistakes this time round and Martin was revelling in the success on Wednesday morning.
