Irishcorrespondent set to continue racing career abroad after sale
Michael Halford has revealed that Irishcorrespondent, third in the Group 1 Irish 2,000 Guineas behind Churchill, has been sold to continue his career in Hong Kong.
The Teofilo colt burst into life for Halford at the first time of asking when he ran out an impressive winner of a Leopardstown maiden in April before following up at the Curragh in May.
Irishcorrespondent was beaten seven lengths on yielding ground behind Churchill in the Guineas before finishing fifth behind Benbatl on his first try over a mile and a quarter in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Halford said: "Irishcorrespondent didn't make his racecourse debut until he was a three-year-old and he has improved from each run.
"He's a high-class horse and John McCormack has bought him to race for his new owners in Hong Kong."
He added of the former Ballygallon Stud-owned colt: "He goes to Hong Kong a very fresh horse and I've no doubt he can improve.
"There will be plenty more to come from him and I'd like to wish his new connections all the best. Hopefully he can provide them with a lot of success."
