Irish Grand National-winning trainer targets another monster pot at Galway

Dermot McLoughlin has won Ireland's richest jumps race for the last two years and he now has another monster pot on his radar – the Guinness Galway Hurdle with Santa Rossa.

Lord Lariat won the Irish Grand National at 40-1 for McLoughlin in April, a year on from stablemate Freewheelin Dylan's famous win in the race at 150-1, and now the County Meath-based trainer has another potential star on his hands in the shape of Santa Rossa.

The eight-year-old mare was an impressive winner of the Grade 3 Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary last week, a race Aramon won in 2020 before going on to win the Galway Hurdle, and McLoughlin could try to do likewise with Santa Rossa.
