Key questions for the Moyglare Stud Stakes as Harrington relies on Albigna

Is Albigna the best of Harrington's stellar crop of juvenile fillies?

Jessica Harrington's biggest problem ahead of the Moyglare was not if she would have a runner, it was how many she would have.

Such has been her dominance of the juvenile fillies' division this season, it was presumed she might be double or even triple-handed here, but instead she relies on the unbeaten Albigna, who is her sole representative. Make of that what you will.

Alpine Star and Cayenne Pepper have been handed alternative targets so the baton has been handed over to the daughter of Zoffany.

Harrington said: "Albigna was the filly we'd pencilled in for this race for some time. She won both her starts at the Curragh and has shown a terrific attitude on each occasion. We feel the step up to seven furlongs will suit and she's been in very good form at home."

Does Daahyeh still have the magic touch?

Daahyeh dazzled on her first two starts, scorching clear to take the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot on the second of them, but her unbeaten record came to an end in a competitive renewal of the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket in July.

Her three starts have been over 6f and she is certainly not short of speed so the big worry for Daahyeh backers is whether she will stay 7f. Roger Varian is hopeful she will.

"I think she needs to prove on the track she stays seven but her running style and the way she's galloped out on all three starts makes us believe she's going to stay, and it might even improve her," Varian said.

The trainer added: "It was really quick at Newmarket last time and, while I'd take nothing away from Raffle Prize, she probably had the edge on us in track position because it proved very hard to make up ground on that ground. She deserves to be up there in the market."

Is there a Ballydoyle beauty in the line-up?

Aidan O'Brien has won the Moyglare four times this decade, most recently with Happily in 2017, and he is responsible for four of the nine runners. The big question is whether there is a star among them. From what we have seen so far, the answer could be negative.

Love is rated 104 and appears the number-one hope from Ballydoyle on jockey bookings, but she was only fifth when favourite for the Debutante Stakes on her most recent visit to the Curragh last month.

So Wonderful, who was a length ahead of her there, Tango and Precious Moments complete the Ballydoyle quartet.

O'Brien said: "Love has been consistent and, while she hasn't done a lot since her run in the Debutante last month, she seems in good form.

"Precious Moments and So Wonderful are maidens. So Wonderful was a good second in the Flame Of Tara over a mile last time and we think dropping down to seven furlongs should suit, while going back up in trip should suit Precious Moments. Tango can be a bit lazy so we're trying cheekpieces to see if they might help her."
