'We've left her until January, similar to Lossiemouth last season' - the latest on jumps stars yet to appear this term
The Cheltenham Festival picture is becoming clearer, with a number of big-race contenders strutting their stuff over the Christmas period. However, there are a still some big names yet to be seen this season. Here, we look at 11 horses who could be returning to the track in the coming weeks . . .
El Fabiolo (Willie Mullins)
8-1 Ryanair Chase, 12-1 BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Champion Chase
The 2023 Arkle winner has always had a tendency to clout a fence and that was finally his undoing in last season's Champion Chase in which he had to be pulled up after a bad mistake at the fifth, having gone off 2-9 favourite, and losing his unbeaten status over fences. His jumping again proved his Achilles heel at Sandown when last seen and Jonbon got his Arkle revenge. Mullins said in late November that "he had missed a bit of time but was back doing everything right" and he "wouldn't like to rule out the Ryanair Chase". Anthony Bromley, racing manager to owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, confirmed last week that they are hoping to get him to the Dublin Racing Festival.
